St. ANNA hOSPITAL, COMO / At 55,000 m², the new S. Anna hospital in Como has the largest White Tank floor slab in Europe.
The structure had opened in 2010, four years after the building site opened.
Eng. Mola was the engineer responsible for the structural design of this hospital in Como, which was built by Consorzio SANCO.
The two underground levels that will also house the operating theatres are exposed to a 2-metre water head.
The building site was strengthened with about 4,000 columns of reinforced concrete of depths varying from 20 to 30 metres to support the weight of the structure.
The piles were cast in casings driven into the ground with microexplosions.
