TUNNEL RENOVATION, LUGANO / One of the accesses to a high-voltage power line tunnel experienced water infiltration under pressure, making the concrete crumble and caused erosion of some reinforcement rods.

The first step in the restoration process was to remove the deteriorated concrete. Then discharge tubes were installed to lower the water pressure before proceeding with reconstruction of the wall with quick-setting cement.

Once the patch was consolidated, injections of DRYflex were made through the same decompression tubes.

The resin is also effective in the presence of water under pressure and, after being injected, it catalyses into a gel which expands and seals, through pressure, the cracks which give rise to the infiltrations. By working from the inside, the Drytech technicians were able to verify immediately the performance and effectiveness of the waterproofing.
