PORTA NUOVA, MILAN / Two towers, 140 and 130 metres high, rise at the far end of the long complex, part of the large requalification project of the old Varesine area in Porta Nuova, Milan.
The masterplan has been designed by the London studio of Kohn Pedersen Fox, whilst the works drawing and specifications is the work of Arquitectonica IC, Miami and m²P Associates in Milan, commissioned by Hines Italia and Galotti SpA.
The structure is primarily intended for office space. A cultural centre covering a surface area of 3,000 m² is planned by the Milan Town Council. The four underground levels, built using the Drytech White Tank waterproof system, house car parks with 2,000 parking spaces. The buildings of this new vertical city have their roots in the groundwater. Underground waterproof structures have been built using the Drytech White Tank System covering a surface area of 43,730 m².
Drytech collaborated with designers Arup Italia in Milan and coordinated with CMB on the preparatory activities for waterproofing which were carried out in parallel to activities on the construction site, eliminating days from the works schedule.
