BURROWS ROAD TUNNEL, SYDNEY / Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure has built an underground tunnel for high-voltage cables in Sydney.
The infrastructure is part of the reconfiguration of the EnergyAustralia network and is located only tens of metres from the Alexandria Canal.

The sandy terrain in which the pipeline has been built is saturated with water and therefore the building contractor appointed Drytech to block water ingress to the tunnel portal, in order to allow work to be carried out.

Drytech secured the entrance to the tunnel with injections of PU which created a screen in the first two metres of the pipeline. Allocation of the pipe jacking prefabricated elements was then progressed. After the pipe jacking was completed, Drytech carried out activities to definitively waterproof the entrance, applying DRYset channel around the tunnel’s perimeter.

The portal was then cast and at the end of the concrete’s curing period, Drytech technicians waterproofed it by injecting DRYflex resin in the joint.
The tunnel between Campbell Road and the EA/Transgrid Substation in Alexandria came into operation at the start of 2011.
